ThromboCoach - Semantic annotation of medical guidelines

Duration: 2014 - 2015

Funding: UMIT

Treatment of bleeding and thromboembolic events in children is interdisciplinary. Available information and advice tend to be unstructurized and difficult to find. Indication, choice and dosage of medication in this field mostly take place “off-label”. Therefore, expert informations are of limited usefulness for decision-making.This results in the situation that for children no best practice guidelines for the treatment are available right now. It is important to provide new facts and new treatments very fast to the physicians in the daily routine.

Aim of the project

The aim of this project is to electronically provide informations about the treatment of bleedings and thromboembolic events concerning children as well as newly published scientific results. Those informations are semantically annotated to ensure a quality based processing, displaying and use for the daily routine within an hospital as an evidence based best practice guideline.
